Taps 2 Riches was originally released in 2017 and when we returned to improve metrics on the game in 2023 one of our goals was to modernize T2R to better align it with current idler conventions. I felt the UI also looked a little dated and took it upon myself to update the layout and visuals.

A couple years of feature creep had left the main game screen in a very crowded, busy state, so I tried to eliminate extraneous information and make the main interaction points much more clear. I reduced the scale of the map and businesses slightly to give the UI a little more breathing room and create a larger tap area for the player at the bottom of the screen. Overall I wanted the UI to have a cleaner, more modern look and for all buttons to feel more "tap-able" but not feel completely alien to legacy users.

I also made a second version of the UI that was intended to be used for stand-alone, limited-time events that take place outside of the main game progression. I wanted this instance of the UI to feel more special and premium since these type of events were intended to be a major point of monetization and retention.
